January 6, 2005 Minutes
As Approved at the January 20, 2005 Meeting

ATTENDANCE:  Sue Shockley, Debbie Holwegner, Karlene Pisarcik, Darrell Andersen, Connie Garrett, Mary Kay Flanagan, George Chenoweth, Nancy Tanner, Skip Hougland, Joel Farrell, Vicky Whitney, Todd Kesner, Lorna Simard and Sonja Berg.

CALL TO ORDER:  Darrell called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.
MINUTES:  Karlene moved to approve the December 16, 2004 minutes as presented.  Joel seconded.  Motion carried.
 
FINANCIAL REPORT:  Nothing new to report.

MARKETING:  Sue reported the committee still has not met, however, advertising is already out in some statewide publications.  Coke is going to print posters and up to 50 banners for us free of charge. Radio stations are being contacted.

BUTTON PRICE APPROVAL:  The Fair Board approved the recommended button price of $7 with kids 10 years and under admitted free.

DOG EVENTS:  Nancy Tanner and Vicky Whitney with the Galloping Dog Agility Club were present and inquired about having the pet tricks and conformation in a larger heated area.  Sue said exhibit building #2 would work for this.  We are hopeful that bleachers might fit in there also.   Registration is Sunday at 11a.m.  Pet tricks at noon and conformation at 1p.m.  Nancy Creel emailed the rest of the dog events schedule to Debbie.

FFA & McLIEN’S FARM BARN:  Darrell reported their committee met and worked out more details.  Saturdays speakers and presentations are in 30 minute blocks allowing time for questions afterwards.  Most speakers will return on Sunday.  There are just a few more details to work out.  FFA is doing branding, taking care of the animals in the barn, and making plaques for Al.  Sue mentioned there would be a hand washing station available in the barn.

AG IN THE CLASSROOM:  Todd reported this is just about good to go, but is thinking about having an auctioneer.

CHILI COOK-OFF:  Good to go.  Entry forms available at KMMS radio station and the Fairgrounds office.

COWBOY CAMP:  This is good to go.

DOG PULLING CONTEST:  Connie reported sponsors are lined up and she has all the prizes she needs.  Photos have been taken for the poster.  Entries will be taken day of the event.  There are five weight classes.  They will do drawings for the kegs of beer.  This event is now good to go.

BEVERAGE CONTEST:  Good to go.  Entries have been mailed.  Deadline for entries is January 28.  After this date, times will be scheduled with entering establishments for drink judging.  Darrell and Connie volunteered to be judges.  
 
ATV ICE RACING:  It’s a go.

CHILDREN’S ART SHOW:  It’s a go.

QUILT SHOW:  Karlene reported this is ready to go.

PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW:  Lorna will take flyers to photography shops.

AUTO ICE RACING:  Good to go.

INDOOR/OUTDOOR EXHIBITS:  Applications are coming in.  We have 17 indoor exhibitors and zero exhibitors for outdoors.  Currently we have two food vendors.

KID’S ACTIVITIES:  We will have the little train ride, the FFA barn, sandy candy art and cookies.  Times for these activities need to be scheduled.

BAHA HOCKEY TOURNAMENT:  Good to go.

RABBIT/POULTRY SHOW:  Good to go.

HORSE PLAY DAY:  Good to go.  Entries will be taken at Noon on Sunday at the S. end of the indoor arena and the event will begin at 1p.m.

TACK SWAP:  Good to go.

WORKING HORSE & DRIVER CONTEST:  Good to go.  Coats will be given as prizes for Champion and Reserve Champion.

ENTERTAINMENT:
·       Johnny Steele and the Bootlegger’s Ball are scheduled for Friday evening beginning at 7:30 p.m.
·       Cowboy camp has Montana Blue performing and Dancer Davis.
·       Nights of the Gallatin are performing Friday evening.
·       Lion’s Club is checking into having a poker tournament.
·       Sue is checking on getting the Ringling 5 for Saturday evening, return of NASCAR, and snow kitting people for some demonstrations.
·       Debbie is checking on a clown and pony rides.
·       Sharon Melniker with Boots and Buckles are doing the opening ceremonies before the horse sale preview.


SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:  The tentative schedule was handed out.  There are still lots of changes.

OTHER BUSINESS:  None

NEXT MEETING:  January 20 at 6 p.m.

ADJOURNMENT:  Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
