January 20, 2005 Meeting
As Approved at the January 27, 2005 Meeting
ATTENDANCE: Sue Shockley, Debbie Holwegner, Karlene Pisarcik, Darrell and Tammy Andersen, Connie Garrett, Joel Farrell, Lorna Simard, Deb Luttmann and Julie Tellefson with the Raptors, Bill Montgomery, Al Lien, Dave Kraft, Sherri Sigvardt, Phil Hamel, Gary and Vicki Taylor and Sonja Berg.
CALL TO ORDER: Darrell was running a little late and in his absence, Sue called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. Darrell took over the meeting around 6:15 p.m.
MINUTES: Karlene moved to approve the January 6, 2005 minutes as presented. Joel seconded. Motion carried.
MARKETING: The Bozeman Chronicle is doing the tab for WinterFest. Sue needs articles ASAP. We have until January 26 to get stuff in to her. Meeting with radio and TV to get schedule worked out.
DOG EVENTS: Nancy Creel is looking for someone to announce who has a voice that carries well. She would like to arrange to have music playing all the time. Also looking for a timing display so that the audience can see the timed events. There are also some PA issues to work out.
FFA & McLIEN’S FARM BARN: Darrell reported most is finalized with only a few small details to work out yet. It was suggested to put up the speakers and demos schedule in the barn to draw people back.
AG IN THE CLASSROOM: Todd was not present to report.
CHILI COOK-OFF: Good to go.
COWBOY CAMP: This is good to go.
DOG PULLING CONTEST: Connie reported posters are done and being distributed. Wheat Montana is donating product and Sue will talk to Coors about giveaways. Will have Coke product to give to those entrants that are not 21. Need straw bales to line the sides of the track. Also, need Coors lettering and/or logo to put on the sides of the beer barrel.
BEVERAGE CONTEST: Good to go. Sue thinks she has someone to serve the winning beverage. Debbie reported that last year’s winner is contacting local bars trying to get participation.
ATV ICE RACING: Dave and Sherri verified it’s a go. They are going to use the same track as the auto ice racing. Trophies are taken care of. Will need flaggers, a PA and ambulance. Karlene to contact Bozeman Jaycees to see if they will do concessions. All proceeds will go to the Fairgrounds.
CHILDREN’S ART SHOW: It’s a go. Lorna is recruiting help with this.
QUILT SHOW: Karlene reported we are required to pay a deposit and fee for the use of the quilt racks. Some volunteers are lined up. Raptors will be in the Southeast corner of building #3 with the quilt show. Raptors hours are Saturday, 11am – 5pm. They will need some chairs and 8-10 tables.
HORSE SALE: Good to go.
PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW: Good to go.
AUTO ICE RACING: Good to go.
INDOOR/OUTDOOR EXHIBITS: Karlene reported they have 35 - indoor exhibitors, 0 – outdoor; and 2 food vendors.
KID’S ACTIVITIES: Debbie reported she was unable to locate any pony rides. Kids activities have been set for Friday 5-7pm; Saturday 1 – 4pm; and Sunday 12 – 3pm. Lorna said she is too busy to do this. If volunteers are not found, we will not have this activity.
BAHA HOCKEY TOURNAMENT: Good to go.
RABBIT/POULTRY SHOW: Good to go.
HORSE PLAY DAY: Good to go.
BOZEMAN LIONS: No one was present to report. Are they doing a poker tournament?
TACK SWAP: Good to go.
WORKING HORSE & DRIVER CONTEST: Joel reported they still need a judge and announcer. A sign directing teamsters where to take their horses will be displayed at Oak gate.
KID’S BOZEMAN ROUNDUP FOOT & WHEELCHAIR RODEO: This is good to go. Mailing has gone out. This event has been changed to include all children.
ENTERTAINMENT:
PIPI the Clown: No … too expensive … try to find a local clown to do balloons.
Pony Rides: Debbie could not find anyone available to do this.
Animals of Montana: Sue will look at the budget to see how much we can spend and if we can fit them in the
schedule.
Headwater Fiddlers: Not available.
Mechanical Bull: Haven’t heard yet.
Chainsaw Carver: Maybe, waiting to hear.
Nights of the Gallatin: Yes
NASCAR Racing: Yes
Snow-Kiting: Yes
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: The schedule was handed out for review. There are still some changes to be made.
OTHER BUSINESS: None
