Wild West WinterFest
February 9, 2006 Minutes
(as Approved at the March 16, 2006 Meeting)
ATTENDANCE: Skip Hougland, Connie Garrett, Todd Saunders, Sue Shockley, Debbie Holwegner, Karlene Pisarcik, Deb Ehlert, Vicky Whitney, Carter Benedict, Harry Huntsinger, Sonja Berg, Al Lien and Gary Taylor.
1. CALL TO ORDER: Connie called the meeting to order at 7:09 a.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Skip moved to approve the February 9, 2006 minutes as presented. Carter seconded. Motion carried.
3. MARKETING: Harry reported that everything has gone very well with the sponsorships. Sue added the Marketing Committee put together a guest survey for WinterFest. This survey will be available at some events, exhibit buildings and the Foundation booth. Anyone filling out at survey at the Foundation booth will receive a coupon for one free 2006 Fair admission button. They will also have the opportunity to enter into a free drawing for a car wash, Moonlight Basin ski ticket, and a golf card from Caddy Shack. This survey will also go in the exhibitor’s packets.
4. PET TRICKS and CONFORMATION: Vicky reported they are ready. She will turn in the remainder of her ribbon order.
5. DOG KEG PULL CONTEST: Connie reported they are ready to go. Will need a table in the Dog Keg Pull area for registrations.
6. AG IN THE CLASSROOM: No report.
7. McLIEN’S FARM BARN: Al reported the barn is setup and will be full of animals for WinterFest. Harry will get the alfalfa and grass seed still needed from the Ag Depot.
8. HAY SHOW: Al reported the hay samples would be set up in the People Barn for judging. The hay analysis information signs need to be done by 8:00am tomorrow. The Hay Show sign that Al brought in looks great.
9. COWBOY GATHERING: Carter reported the main poetry show on Saturday is set to go. Rob Brooks will have a horse trailer and western tack to use as a backdrop for the evening show. Carter has been in touch with the eight kids that are signed up for the poetry at the Cowboy Camp on Friday. Parents are excited to have their kids perform. Carter was pleased with the program that Linda put together. Carter suggested the Cowboy Mounted Shooters be considered for next year.
10. WESTERN UNDERGROUND CONCERT: Gary reported this concert is good to go.
11. COWBOY INDIAN CAMP: Good to go.
12. HORSE PLAY DAY: The horse pellets and candy is available to bag.
13. OFFICIAL BEVERAGE CONTEST: Harry reported they have 15 bars participating and will begin judging on Saturday.
14. INDOOR/OUTDOOR EXHIBITORS & FOOD VENDORS: Karlene reported we have seven outdoor exhibitors and seven food vendors. The indoor exhibitors are full and we currently have people on a waiting list.
15. HORSIN’ AROUND DAY: Sue reported this is good to go. There are cool things planned including an animal communicator, horse safety, equine chiropractic, and demonstrations.
16. KIDS ACTIVITIES: Good to go.
17. BOZEMAN LIONS CLUB: No report.
18. ALL STAR EXPO: Good to go.
19. CHILI COOK-OFF: They have 16 entries and still have more that want to enter.
20. CHILDREN’S ART SHOW: Good to go. We have received a few entries at the office
21. QUILT SHOW: Good to go.
22. PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW: Still needs some help for this.
23. HORSE SALE: Sue reported the catalog is finished and looks great.
24. BATTLE OF THE BREEDS: Sue reported the second preliminary is this Saturday. There are three stallions signed up for the Stallion Parade.
25. AUTO ICE RACING: No report.
26. RABBIT/POULTRY SHOWS: Good to go.
27. TACK SWAP: Skip stated they still need a trailer and help with the consignments.
28. WORKING HORSE & DRIVER CONTEST: Sue reported there are seven entries so far. Still looking for a judge.
29. KID’S FOOT & WHEEL CHAIR RODEO: Good to go.
30. PACKER’S SCRAMBLE: Debbie reported for Jim Boorman. There are four entries so far. The firewood has been taken care of and they have plenty of volunteers to help. They will need 15 – 20 trees for setup.
31. BAHA HOCKEY TOURNAMENT: Good to go.
32. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: It’s done, looks great and is ready for distribution.
33. NEXT MEETING DATE: Our wrap-up meeting is March 16 at 7:00 am. We will be meeting at the Ag Center meeting room.
34. ADJOURNMENT: Meeting was adjourned at 8:10 a.m.
