ATTENDANCE: Sue Shockley, Debbie Holwegner, Al Lien, Harry Huntsinger and Skip Hougland.
1. CALL TO ORDER: Harry called the meeting to order at 7:10 a.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Sue moved to approve the May 4, 2006 minutes. Skip seconded. Motion carried.
NOTE: Due to the few attendees at this meeting, it was decided to just discuss WinterFest events and skip going through the whole agenda.
· Harry has been speaking to Steve with SCS and their club is very interested in having a show in the outdoor arena.
· Consider whether or not we need to have the horse play day.
· Sue suggested XL Country have a “find the medallion” promotion like they had for the fair. Possibly, offer a ski package.
· Skip suggested changing the date of WinterFest over Veteran’s Day in November, a time of the year when the weather would be more favorable. Sue said she was not ready to give up on the February date. Al was in favor of leaving the date as is and suggested having an exciting events to bring more people to WinterFest.
· Debbie suggested using exhibit building #2 for entertainment and smaller events, i.e. chili cook-off, pet tricks, dog conformation, dances, kids activities etc.
· Form a sub-committee for the farm barn.
· It was suggested to have some type of rodeo on Friday evening to possibly include steer riding, bull riding, mutton bustin’ and bronc riding. This type of event would bring in more people. We will have a sub-committee for this rodeo.
· Other suggestions for events were snowmobile races, cross country skiing races, snowshoe racing, and a vintage motorcycle bike show; concentrating on wintertime activities.
3. NEXT MEETING DATE: Those who attended this meeting formed sub-committees for the farm barn and the Friday night rodeo events. These sub-committees will schedule their meetings before our next regular WinterFest meeting. Our next regular meeting is September 21at 7:00 a.m. at the Ag Center.
4. ADJOURNMENT: Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 a.m.
