Gallatin County was chosen to be the model community for Phase I Wireless 9-1-1 Service in the State of Montana. This means that when you call into the 9-1-1 center on your cell phone, the number can be traced and your location found within a 15 mile radius of the nearest cell tower. This is a great benefit to those persons living in and visiting the Gallatin Valley, considering there are many counties in Montana that don't even have basic 9-1-1 service.
We are in the process of moving forward with Phase II Wireless service, which would be able to locate someone within 3-15 meters of their location. We look forward to bringing this service to the residents of Gallatin County and will keep you updated to our progress.
