Introduction
Thank you for visiting this site. On November 4th, 2008, Gallatin County voters approved a $32 million bond issue for the construction a new detention facility. A direct supervision facility, the new Detention Center is a 160-bed (expandable 200 bed) and will provide in-house program space (counseling, training, etc.), along with complete kitchen, laundry, and commissary capabilities.
The new Gallatin County Detention Center is currently under construction, approximately 54% complete, with a scheduled substantial completion date of December 31, 2010. Following transition from the old facility, this new County facility will be operational March-April 2011, after which the current jail will be demolished (and recylced when can be) in order to complete site improvements to drainage and campus circulation.
Construction to date has incorporated several innovative engineering solutions including engineered screw piles, hollow-core plank floor and roof systems, precast insulated structural wall panels, and concrete topping slab placement over concealed infrastructure. Ongoing work include interior non-bearing masonry partitions, roof fabric installation, and mechanical-, electrical- and plumbing-related component fabrication/emplacement.
The project proceeds within the anticipated Cost, Scope of Work, Schedule, and Quality expectations of the Project Team which consists of representatives of the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Owner (Gallatin County), Architect (Durrant), Construction Manager (Martel), various consultants (Program Management, Transition Services), and the many local subcontractors that are making this project a successful return on the investment being made by the citizens of Gallatin County, Montana.
