Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has primary responsibility for air quality in Gallatin County. EHS offers informational and educational support to the community on some air quality issues. Click here for more information.
Indoor Air Quality
RADON - Information is available on testing and reducing indoor radon gas levels from EHS. Both short-term and long-term radon test kits are available for purchase and assistance is provided with interpreting test results.

Outdoor Air Quality
The local fire and sheriff departments issue open burning agricultural permits. During forest fire season, refer to the MDEQ for air quality advisories. Other outdoor air quality issues, including management and reduction of industrial emissions, road dust and particulates are the responsibility of MDEQ.
