Befrienders is a non-profit senior companionship program serving Gallatin County since 1993. Befrienders’ mission is to enhance the quality of life for seniors. Befrienders will match each senior with a volunteer who will come weekly to provide companionship and minor assistance; such as grocery shopping, running errands, or eating out, chatting and playing cards. The bonds of friendship are so powerful among our participants, some of our seniors and volunteers have referred to our program as a “Gift of a Lifetime.” There is no cost.

The Homemaker Program provides personal care assistance and household help for seniors over the age of 60 who are on a low/fixed income. Our homemakers visit usually one or two hours per week for chores such as shopping, errands, laundry, housework, and personal care such as bathing, etc. The registered nurse visits once a month to check on our clients and make sure all is going well. Our goal is to provide help for people who may not qualify for other programs, yet need assistance in order to remain living safely in their own home. There is no charge for our services, for those who qualify.
