Montana Election Laws govern the processes and procedures in this office. The successful applicant must be a self-starter, be flexible, be adaptable to change, and be able to learn quickly. It requires working with a statewide computer database and understanding and applying the various laws, rules, and regulations governing election administration.
This position works with the public and requires excellent customer service skills when answering busy phone calls and helping customers at the counter. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are required for helping customers and working in a team environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have knowledge of: modern office equipment, methods, practices and procedures; business English, spelling and grammar; and have the ability to: type accurately, learn, understand and apply the various and multifaceted laws, rules and regulations governing elections administration in the Clerk and Recorder's Office; exercise courtesy and tact in receiving the public and in giving and obtaining information; write legibly; follow written and oral instructions; and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Successful applicants must be able to work well with the public, handle busy phone calls and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
EDUCATION: Equivalent to graduation from high school.
EXPERIENCE: One-year clerical experience involving public contact; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to learn quickly. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel a must.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience working with Montana’s Statewide Voter database.
